training

GAMS is dedicated to advancing austere and tactical medical training by equipping current practitioners and the next generation with modern, evidence-based instruction and hands-on skill development. Unlike traditional courses, our Tactical Austere Medical Practitioner (TAMP) Program integrates the patented CSR framework, ensuring tactical providers can operate effectively in the Hot Zone. By structuring the response to active shooter incidents into three distinct phases—Chaos, Stabilization, and Recovery—the CSR framework provides a comprehensive, organized approach to managing complex tactical and medical challenges.

Our training goes beyond conventional methods, prioritizing rigorous hands-on skill assessment over passive learning. GAMS courses are intense, scenario-driven, and continuously evolving, designed to challenge even the most experienced medical professionals. If you're looking for a standard PowerPoint-based course, this is not it—our program is built on real-world, practical application.

To maximize operational readiness, we bring training directly to your location, ensuring convenience without compromising quality. We emphasize proficiency in both advanced life support (ALS) and basic life support (BLS) assessment techniques, recognizing their critical role in high-threat environments.

At GAMS, we are redefining tactical medical training by delivering real-world solutions for real-world situations. Our mission is clear: to prepare medical professionals for the demands of high-threat tactical environments through dynamic, immersive instruction. Join us as we set the new standard in austere and tactical medical education.

What time does the class start?

Classes start on a Friday 0800 for Urban and Wednesday 08:00 for Austere. Unless otherwise posted.

What is the tuition refund policy for Individual Students?

If you choose to withdraw from the class more than 30 days before it begins, you will receive a refund minus a 20% administrative fee based on the total cost of the course. However, if you withdraw within 30 days of the class start date, no refund will be provided; your tuition will be applied to the next available class. Please be aware that if you withdraw a second time, your tuition will not be transferable to future courses. Additionally, note that the department hosting the course must follow these guidelines as per the contract.

Do I need to bring any medical equipment to the school?

No, GAMS will supply all necessary medical equipment, including an Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK) containing two tourniquets. While participants are permitted to bring their department-issued training equipment if they wish, it is not required.

What gear will be needed for the course?

To enhance realism and ensure practical application, participants are encouraged to wear all gear typically used in real-world events, including tactical or protective equipment they would rely on in the field. This approach allows individuals to train under conditions that closely mimic actual scenarios, providing insight into how their gear will perform and ensuring familiarity with their equipment in diverse situations.

Participants should also prepare for variable weather conditions by bringing seasonal gear, as environmental factors can significantly impact training dynamics and personal comfort. Additionally, due to the hands-on nature of the course, it is advised to wear older uniforms and equipment, as these items are likely to experience wear and tear during training exercises. This comprehensive approach prepares participants to respond effectively in high-stress environments and helps them develop practical skills that translate directly to real-world applications.

For safety reasons, firearms are not permitted during training sessions; all personal firearms must be securely stored away from the training area. Hosting agencies may include department-issued weapons if arranged with GAMS in advance.

What is the medical training level to attend the course?

The GFR Program, no prior medical certifications are required, making it accessible to law enforcement officers and first responders of all backgrounds.

The TAM-P Program requires participants to hold a minimum certification of EMT-B, EMT-P, RN, or higher. This prerequisite is due to the advanced medical skills covered in the TAM-P Program, including procedures like advanced airway management, which may be difficult to perform without appropriate medical training and experience.

How many hours of training?

The GFR and TAM-P Programs follow a hybrid training model, combining eLearning and in-person components.

GFR Program: Comprises of 16-hours of eLearning IBSC TR-C Approved Review Course, followed by an additional 8-hour hands-on skills session, which includes either TCCC-ASM or TECC-LEO, totaling 24 (CEUs).

TAM-P Urban Program: Comprises of 40-hours of eLearning, 16-Hours IBSC TP-C or TR-C Approved Review Course, 16-hours for the TECC Provider component, and 16-hours of hands-on skills training over 3 days, totaling 88 CEUs.

TAM-P Austere Program: Comprises of 40-hours of eLearning, 16-Hours IBSC TP-C or TR-C Approved Review Course, 63-Hours for the TCCC-CMC component, and 30-Hours of hands-on skills over 5 days, totaling 119 CEUs.

How can I secure Homeland Security or feMA grants for attending these courses?

Individuals or departments are encouraged to collaborate with their Training Officer or Grant Writer to complete the necessary paperwork when applying for grants. To assist in this process, GAMS has listed approved grants on its website. Although GAMS does not complete applications on behalf of applicants, it will provide essential course syllabus details and issue a letter to the grant agency. This letter will outline GAMS's accreditations and explain how the course aligns with the grant’s objectives, advocating on behalf of both students and departments throughout the process.
