No, GAMS will supply all necessary medical equipment, including an Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK) containing two tourniquets. While participants are permitted to bring their department-issued training equipment if they wish, it is not required.
To enhance realism and ensure practical application, participants are encouraged to wear all gear typically used in real-world events, including tactical or protective equipment they would rely on in the field. This approach allows individuals to train under conditions that closely mimic actual scenarios, providing insight into how their gear will perform and ensuring familiarity with their equipment in diverse situations.
Participants should also prepare for variable weather conditions by bringing seasonal gear, as environmental factors can significantly impact training dynamics and personal comfort. Additionally, due to the hands-on nature of the course, it is advised to wear older uniforms and equipment, as these items are likely to experience wear and tear during training exercises. This comprehensive approach prepares participants to respond effectively in high-stress environments and helps them develop practical skills that translate directly to real-world applications.
For safety reasons, firearms are not permitted during training sessions; all personal firearms must be securely stored away from the training area. Hosting agencies may include department-issued weapons if arranged with GAMS in advance.
